Overview

Community Health Promoters (CHPs) play a pivotal role in connecting rural and underserved populations to formal healthcare services. In Kenya, over 107,000 CHPs are currently deployed, supported by a KES 3 billion government investment under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative.

However, persistent training gaps continue to undermine the quality and consistency of care delivered at the community level.

Key Challenges:

Training Gaps: Despite tools like the electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS), many CHPs lack access to continuous, standardized, and context-relevant training.
Quality of Care: Limited knowledge refreshment and guidance affect service delivery and patient outcomes.
Scalability Issues: Traditional training methods are resource-intensive and difficult to scale across large, dispersed populations.
Technological Integration: Existing digital platforms are underutilized as learning and support tools.
